Used in combination with WHS would still be the best pratice. Nothing like security and backup.

Regarding “Microsoft server option for a small business”.

First and foremost, when has Microsoft ever provided security products? The whole world is constantly patching every month the licensed Microsoft product for critical defects, flaws and sloppy code. Patches for patches, service packs too.

As for backup, Windows Home Server, was shipped with a proven data corruption design flaw, that wasn’t patched until Power Pack 1 was released, about a year later!

Now comes Power Pack 2, as if nobody has figured out how unreliable this Windows Home (NOT Business) ill conceived product just dumped upon consumers!

Yes, WHS continues to be plagued with broken beta code… It’s not a finished product solution at all.

Just look at the many articles posted here on this website, and see for yourself the beta code applications used in WHS, third party add-ins and the continuous ongoing effort given for a lemon product!

In California, three strikes and your out! But, with Windows Home Server, it’s more like, you become our personal beta or alpha tester, and pay Microsoft for this privilege…

While all the time, you are told, “Backup your backup data, when using WHS!”, no joke!

A backup solution that needs and requires a backup plan.

Anyone running a business, doesn’t want down time, doesn’t want to use BETA quality in a production environment…

That’s why Microsoft labeled this WHS for “Home” use…

WHS is limited to just 10 PC’s… and doesn’t support more than 10 connections at once (TCP/IP) and was never designed to be a low cost solution for first time home use customers…

Saying it’s “Best” even for small business couldn’t be further from the truth… Name me any small business that depends upon a Windows “Home” server product?

Let the customers come forward… if any at all!

Richard, why is it that you and I are the only ones out there who see WHS for what it really is, a much newer ME?

WHS should have NEVER been released in even it’s current state. As you said, once again, the customers are their testing ground.

I have never seen such a bug-ridden piece of code. I would be sitting in court if I delivered software like this to any of my clients.

It’s way too buggy to be considered for even the small business community and many of the “home” market users are just not savvy enough to fix it when it breaks.

The concept is right on, the product is not.
