Add-In: DVD Manager 0.0.030 Alpha

The DVD Manager add-in which moves moves your Media Center recordings to your server for storage and management has been updated. Version 0.0.030 Alpha has fixed the "rips to a video file sometimes had the wrong audio track" issue and also has the following new features:

  • Re-use your old folder rips by ripping to a file from an existing folder rip.
  • If you don’t have a DVD drive inside of your WHS, now you can rip using your client PCs! The DVD Manager client installs much like the add-in for WHS but can run on your client PC and rip the DVD to the same share you set in the add-in’s preferences. Currently there isn’t way to monitor the percent complete but you can run this on as many PCs as you’d like (the log is merged on the server, so you can view that if need be), even ripping at the same time. The client also requires AnyDVD or DVD34 to decrypt the DVD and the Windows Home Server Connector software installed.

More details are available from here.

Your title should be DVD Manager not TV Manager. That one is still testing at version 1.02

  2. Hi Diehard,
Thanks for correcting me, it’s all the excitement of a new year!

DVD Manager 0.0.030 Alpha… definitely alpha.

Since installing it homeserverconsoletab.people.dll is blocking the console from running and my home server is constantly accessing my floppy drive for no reason.

I had to go in and surgically remove remnants of this add-in from my registry to get the console to work again. And now I’ll have to go disconnect my floppy to see if I can get it to stop that infernal noise.

Matt, just go into your “device manager” find the floppy drive, right click and select disable. That will take care of the floppy noise without the hassle of doing physical work.

Also make sure that .NET 3.51 is installed.

Also Brent please get your server up, the site is down again.

Where do I install the DVD Manager Client.msi? I tried executing it on my PC but doesnt seem to do anything. I was able to install DVD Manager.msi on the WHS, but removed that to run the client. Can you tell me where (XP) I should put the client MSI file?

    Mike

  6. Some really good information here. I’ve bookmarked it for the next time i need to do this 🙂

  7. Richard says:

It seems the download link is broken, and that this has happened before. Are there any mirrors of the file, does anyone know?

  8. Hi Richard,
    The link has been updated.
