PerfectDisk 10 WHS Winners Announced

Sorry for the delay – Last week Monday through to Sunday we were giving away 1 copy a day of PerfectDisk 10 Windows Home Server Family Pack, that’s 7 copies in total thanks to the guys and girls at Raxco Software.

You left over 200 comments, so without further waiting here are the winners for the 7 copies of PerfectDisk 10 WHS.

On Monday we asked you to name a key feature of PerfectDisk 10 and why you would like a copy. Congrats to Jason Kentner who said:

SmartPLacement – This is the best feature! Most people who use WHS will find there are certain files they use a lot, and then there is the rest. This results in net speed increase on your WHS.

I would like a copy because speed is king! Anything to keep the family from complaining!

Tuesday we asked for your favorite WHS add-in and why you like it so much. Well done to Pete Nicholls who replied:

My favorite Add-In is Lights Out. It’s always a struggle determining whether to leave stuff on all the time, or only when you typically use it. Lights Out makes this an easy choice. It comes on every day at noon and shuts down at 9pm Sun-Thu. I leave the system on until 11pm on Fri and Saturday with a total shutdown on Saturday’s so I can give the system a fresh start once a week. If PerfectDisk does for the disk what Lights Out does for uptime management, I’ll be a happy camper!

Wednesday we wanted to know your favorite piece of software which you install directly onto your Home Server which isn’t an add-in and how you use it. Diehard replied with the following:

My favorite is Meta Browser (running as a service) with the utorrent addin. Together they rename and organize my TV shows for HP`s Video Converter software on my EX47x. Serves the videos nicely to my W7 MCE Media Browser.

I`ve also installed Zune & SharePoint Server, AD,CCleaner,Revo Uninstaller, blah, blah, blah.

Thursday we wanted to know which version of Windows 7 you were purchasing and why, including whether it was 32-bit or 64-bit. Jonathan Kimrey had this to say:

A family pack of 32-bit Home Premium for my three computers.

I really like the ease of networking features available in Windows 7, especially when integrated with WHS Power Pack 3.

PerfectDisk for WHS would be a welcome addition to the system!

Thanks.

Friday we wanted to know why PerfectDisk 10 is better than the competition. Congratulations to Tim Cooper who said this:

PerfectDisk is better than the competition for numerous reasons. Cost, speed, effectiveness, ability to install on Windows Home Server. Plus, the feature that the Maximum single drive size is unlimited will be invaluable in the future of larger drives.

On Saturday we asked why you would like a copy of PerfectDisk 10 Windows Home Server to reside on your Home Server. Holt replied with the following:

Perfect Disk would help my machine since I am always moving WMC recorded TV to my WHS. They are large files and adding and deleting has to take its toll on fragmentation. Since Power Pack 3 will move these automatically and archive them, I can see needed this kind of defrag program even more. When you stream to Xbox 360 as a media center extender, recorded TV has to come from the server to the PC and then extended on to the Xbox 360. Any latency just adds to streaming problems with this setup, even on a gig LAN. It will be nice when WHS can be the server for TV and extenders and computers can connect to it for all your needs. A defrag like Perfect Disk will be most needed then.

And finally on Sunday we wanted to know when you plan to upgrade to windows 7 and any new ways which you plan to use it. Simon Smith had this to say:

I have already set-up 1 PC with Windows 7 (can’t knock TechNet) and am so impressed that I have three more to do. The new MCE is very impressive. I also want to play with the new touchscreen capabilities.

Well done to all 7, you shall be receiving an email shortly with download instructions and product keys etc and to those of you who didn’t win this time round thanks for your time in entering.

  1. Diehard says:

    Thanks for drawing my name.

  2. Holt says:

Thanks to mswhs.com and at Raxco Software for the prizes. I tried all summer to win something at another tech site but never did. You all should do another post about the winner’s experiences with PerfectDisk 10 after we have had a chance to put it though its paces. I’ll be glad to offer my thoughts.

  3. Jonathan Kimrey says:

Awesome! First time I think I’ve EVER won anything. 🙂

Thanks to both mswhs and Raxco!

  4. Simon Smith says:

Thanks. Didn’t see the comp until the last day and thought I had no chance.
    Well pleased!
    Simon

  5. Jason Kentner says:

That is great! I am like Jonathan, I think this is the first time ever for me winning something!

  6. Thanks so much for PerfectDisk 10, I look forward to learning and using it.
