COBA User Group Discusses WHS – Bay Area, California

The Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group September meeting will discuss Windows Home Server alongside video and photography convergence.

Edward Casati of Unbound Photography has recently switched to using WHS as his main ‘bulk’ file storage system after outgrowing his ReadyNAS. He built his own with some extra hardware that he had and has been pleased with its performance.

His presentation will cover the following topics:

  • What to look for in mass storage: Expandability, Non-proprietary storage format, Room for growth, Remote access, flexibility.
  • Brief comparison of other alternatives
  • Standard features of WHS
  • Hardware options
  • Remote Access capabilities

The event is taking part on Wednesday, September 10 2008, at Stanford University, California from 7:30-10:00 PM.
