License

Lights-Out is available in 2 editions:
– a free community edition
– a licensed edition

After installation you can evaluate Lights-Out for a period of 30 days. After evaluation you need either a license to get access to all features or be satisfied with the community edition.

A license can be ordered from within Lights-Out.
- Personal license €15.00 + VAT (approx. $22.90)
- Commercial license €25.00 + VAT (approx. $38.00)

A license includes all updates for the 1.x range (from 1.0.x to 1.9.9).

For wake on LAN there is also “AWIECO WakeOnLAN 0.9.0″ for WHS 2011 which is free currently “Lights Out” doesn’t seem free.

There is also a WHS addin called MagicWOL from http://maplegrovepartners.com/ the addin does not require you to have any client software on the PC or laptop you want to connect to, this is convienent. Also there is a web page interface into your WHS web page.

You can migrate the hard drives from your old server to a new box. But you will have to do a Server Recovery because the hardware is different. Do not choose Full Restore. that will format the shared pooled drives. You will have to recreate the User Account and reinstall any addins.
