The Patriot convoy and it’s Ultra clone are essentially an enclosure that converts 2.5″ drive size to 3.25″. A space saver/adapter if you will.

The product listed here creates a hot swappable RAID array of the 2 drives within the enclosure, and unknown to the host which may or may not have the capability to provide RAID by itself. It is a very different product in what looks to be the same physical case. Notice this only has 1 SATA connector, because it will be seen as 1 drive to the host computer.

Will this SSM work on HP home servers or DataVault?

Look exactly like the “Ultra ULT40443″ (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4473411&Sku=ULT40443)

and the “Patriot PC25S Convoy” (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4837633&CatId=2781)

After doing some currency conversions it comes out to around $255 CAD for the “SSM”

For 2 500GB 2.5″ hdds (2x http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4322423&CatId=2681) and the enclosure, it’s: $42 + $143 = $185. With tax thats around $210 CAD.

Good value for money? Not at all. Buying it all retail is almost $50 cheaper… Thats horrible.
