I have done the initial backup over Hamachi twice now, with a 100GB drive taking 48 hours, and a 30gb taking 4 hours, being limited by my home network's download speed of 3mb/s. So its not bad at all if you're willing to let it run for the full length.

I have been doing this for a while now, and the only thing I have to correct is that if you are willing to leave your computer on for long enough, the initial backup will work over Hamachi. I have been cruising WHS-based blogs for a while now, and this is the first walk-through of it's kind I have encountered.

Thanks for reposting this/posting the info.
