ClamWin won’t scan particular system folders and hence you will see ‘permission denied’ – it’s part of normal behaviour.

Installed WHSClamAV (Version: 0.1.6.17987) on a new ASUS TSMINI (headless WHS). Install went smoothly, and testing out scanning…
UPDATE: Initial update took a while, but eventually db updated successfully.
MEMORY SCAN: complete, 3min.
FILES SCAN: complete, 2min (no actual data on the server yet, though)
SYSTEM SCAN: Keep getting “permission denied”… Am I missing something important/doing something wrong?

Ok, I saw 0.1.4 is up and it installed fine.

I experience some odd scrolling behavior pushing the AV control bar out of the visible window. This may be related to the WHS console adapted to netbook display size with the latest powerpack.

I think you understand but just to clarify for everyone:

In “Windows Home Server Settings” there are two tabs of interest. “Add-Ins” and “WHS ClamAV”.

[1]. Selecting “Remove” on the “WHS ClamAV” tab will only uninstall ClamWin. WHSClamAV is not a component of ClamAV/Win.

[2]. Selecting “Uninstall” on the “Add-Ins” tab will remove only the Add-In.

To upgrade the Add-In follow [2], then download and install the newer version.
To remove everything follow [1] then [2].

Re: Uninstalling I was under the impression it would uninstall the whole thing. When removing it in WHS console it says: Are you sure you want to remove ClamWin Free Antivirus and all of its components.

v0.1.4 will be out in the next hour to fix installations with other languages. To upgrade, remove the Add-In, downloaded the new version, install the Add-In. You don’t need to uninstall ClamWin and reinstall it as the same version is being used between versions of the Add-In.

I just noticed v 0.1.3 is out (I am running 0.1.2). Could you please describe the upgrade process? Do we need to uninstall first? Thanks!

My mistaken understanding of how ClamWin handles exclusions has been corrected and now version 0.1.3 is available for download from the sourceforge site. I encourage anyone who has problems or suggestion to please use the following options:

missing items.
1. auto scan at set times. This AV is a passive so it needs to scan at least once a day for safety minded and once every three days for those not to worried.

2. auto definition updates. I don’t want to log into my home server everyday to do this, WHS is after all an automated piece of software.

I’ll come up with more, but for now I wont replace Avast in favor of this unless it becomes fully automated. And sorry if it is, but I have not seen any details about the program other than what is wrote here, and it states a manual scan.

Version 0.1.2 is now available from the sourceforge site. This fixes a couple of bugs and corrects my neglection of excluding the c:\fs path.

Might be interesting to add information for business users of WHS which AV programs currently work effectively with WHS. I for one have Symantec EndPoint Protection v11.5 installed as AV only and unmanaged. Until ClamAV works proficiently most non-business users will wing it and yet I’m sure non-profits using WHS can’t wait for the real thing.
