My Movies for Windows Home Server (my kids are addicted, o’ya my wife too)
My Movies for Windows Home Server provides automated disc copying of Audio CD’s and movies from internal or USB attached optical drives, adding meta-data to copied discs, or movies already stored on the server by monitoring your movie folders.

The expanding number of computers in my house drove a search for a better backup solution. That turned out to be WHS.

The “Old” main computer was defragged by PerfectDisk. It would be nice to add that to the rest of the computers.

I love the Advanced Admin Console Add-In which saves a lot of time have to RDP into the machine to tweak services or IIS config.

I really need that program to completely eliminate WHS fragmentation of my drives. I have had nothing but problems trying to back-up of two pc’s. I get one good back-up of each and then next time a back-up is tried I get an error that the back service is not running. The only way to correct it is to do a total rebuild of the server. Hopefully this program will correct the problem or at least help troubleshoot the problem. I am at the end of the rope with this WHS.

The Advanced Admin Console is great. I can find things quickley in a method I am familer with.

My favorite add-in is the WHS Backup Database Backup (BDBB). Backing up the Backup Database should be built into WHS, but since it isn’t, BDBB helps out. If I were to have a catastrophic fire (all PCs and the WHS totally destroyed), it’s imperative that I have everything stored offsite.

Hi,
My favorite add in is ASoft AutoExit. It gives me an easy access to boot / reboot / wake up the clients in my network, and lock the workstation in a network + sending messages. This combined with P80 gives me good and easy control. But it is the service of ASoft AutoExit I like best.

Man, it’s tough to pick just one. I use and love just about all of the ones already mentioned but, just to change it up, I’m going to say Grid Junction. It works a treat, and it’s nice to be able to see what’s going on with my power – voltage, outages/brownouts, etc…

I’m a big fan of Squeezecenter – I’ve got a Transporter and a Squeezebox, so having all of my music available whenever and wherever I want it is fantastic, especially when its all ripped and stored on my server.

My favorite Add-In is Lights Out. It’s always a struggle determining whether to leave stuff on all the time, or only when you typically use it. Lights Out makes this an easy choice. It comes on every day at noon and shuts down at 9pm Sun-Thu. I leave the system on until 11pm on Fri and Saturday with a total shutodown on Saturday’s so I can give the system a fresh start once a week. If DiskPerfect does for the disk what Lights Out does for uptime management, I’ll be a happy camper!

I also like a little add in that lists the updates that have been applied to the WHS OS. It’s not very fancy but provides really good info in one central location.

I really like the Disk Management add in. The wire frame visual display of the disk system is cool. The detailed information on each drive is very helpful, especially the activity and temperature for each drive. It really adds to the information already provided on drive systems by the native drive management tab in WHS.

My Movies for WHS. Brian has a great program for cataloguing and maintaing your movies and with v3.0 coming out I’m anticipating a nice updated UI.
