I've used many Symantec products and found them to be all rubbish and resource hungrey. Easeus Parition Master is a good alternative to copy entire hdd's.

I have been trying for over the last 3 months to get it fixed but Symantec says it is MS problem. I had Symantec tech support PROVE the issue is related to there products (VSS) problem. Check out http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=Norton_360&thread.id=10260&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

This has been confirmed via multiple times by users via Symantec forums.
