Add-In: @WHSTweet 1.2.0.969

The add-in which monitors your WHS health status and sends a twitter update has been updated.

 @WHSTweet 1.2.0.969

As well as the following enhancements and bug fixes version 1.2.0.969 of @WHSTweet also includes a Direct Messages (DM) feature which will allow you to send messages to a particular user, likely yourself, instead of sending public tweets or protecting your updates. This is a more secure way to get notified of your WHS status.

  • Fixed the critical error reporting on reboot bug.
  • Changed the twitter bird logo.
  • Things were getting a little crowded, so I introduced a tabbed interface.
  • Removed #WHS from test tweets to reduce what some have called "spam".
  • Changed the code to accept localization (i.e. multiple languages).

More information is available from here as well as on Twitter.

    oh my gosh golly gee, if I have WHS, I sure dont have a teewter account, what a strange mix.

    My perception (and Microsoft’s) is that WHS is a server OS. Why do some people insist on making it a client and a server PC? Wouldn’t users be better served to use other PCs for apps and the like?

    @palavering2u – I don’t think you understand what this Add-In does. It is NOT a twitter client like twhirl or TweetDeck. It simply uses twitter as a messaging platform (vs text messages or email) to send status updates as to the health of your WHS.

    Thank you for the clarification. I did know, however, the nature of the add-in. I just think that the end user should be careful installing an add-in of any sort (I have installed the Disk Management add-in). I’m not sure of what service the Twitter add-in would be for most consumers. I, personally, hardly know what to do when I receive an error message, or a warning–other than those I receive througn any of my clients. I really don’t think the average consumer wants to spend his or her time fiddling with code, the registry, and other esoteric options. Nor do I think that Microsoft developed WHS for that purpose. But I convey here my opinion only. I’m sure others would disagree with me.

    Excellent app!! Totally disagree with palavering2u (although I slightly resent having to finally join Twitter). Is there a similar app for SBS? Or can @WHSTwitter be installed on other platforms?
